Briefing Note Purpose
A number of SNOMED CT Clinical Finding concepts used to record nursing observations — including those using the terms “disability,” “reduced,” “limited”/“limitation,” “impaired”/“impairment,” and “difficulty” — currently show inconsistent wording, inconsistent word order, and mixed modelling patterns. Some concepts also carry synonyms that diverge in meaning from their Fully Specified Name, which complicates translation and consistent implementation. This briefing note requests feedback on a proposed approach for resolving these issues.
