Hip Fracture: which body parts?

In SNOMED, the hip is modelled as a structure comprising several bones.

Therefore the main concept referring to a hip fracture is 700097003 |Fracture of bone of hip region (disorder)|, which speaks of a bone in the hip region.

However, several concepts include synonyms with the terms “hip fracture” or “fracture of hip”, but these refer to different body sites in their logical definitions. Non exhaustive list:

In which concepts do you include translations with equivalents of “hip fracture”? Only in concepts with body site “bone structure of hip joint region”? Or do you follow SNOMED’s current situation?

Dear Pedro,

I am a GP und Family Doctor. From my clinical Point of view, hip fracture in Austria does not include fracture of Femur. If you specify hip joint fracture we will als include proximal fracture of Femur.
