Which attempt should count in the final assessment of the SCT Foundation Course?

I considered this as a topic for our Antwerp meeting, but thought it was a good occasion for starting a discussion on our new forum:-)

We have a new colleague in our NRC that recently took the Foundation Course. She passed the final assessment with her first attempt and just for fun she wanted to try again to see if she would also pass if she went quickly through the assessment without looking into notes etc. But then she failed and had to contact the SNOMED Education Team to get her last attempt erased.

I wonder if other members countries have had similar experiences?
And if you agree with us to request that it should always be the attempt with the highest score that counts? And if this is not possible, that further attempts after having passed is labeled with a warning?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards, Louise

Hi Louise,

Thank you for raising this in our new ELAG forum we’re pleased to have some activity within the forum. We have added an additional note to the Foundation Course final assessment that’s visible when taking the assessment, and when the assessment is passed. We hope that this reinforces the message that the final assessment is graded on the final attempt and not the highest score.

For those that enter the assessment a second time accidentally we are always able to delete that attempt so that the first attempt score is applied. Learners are always able to get in touch with us at elearning@snomed.org at any time with any queries or issues.

I hope this helps with any future attempts at the assessment.

Kind regards,

Louise (SNOMED International E-Learning Administrator)

Hi Louise, it sounds very good with the warnings you have made. Thx. Kind regards, Louise
