I would like to find reliable information about the ICD-O map currently distributed with the international edition. Does the current map use ICD-O-3.1, as stated here https://www.snomed.org/maps? Are there plans to upgrade the current map?
Is there documentation about the methodology followed to create the map? Or any other useful information?

The currently distributed map is indeed to ICD-O version 3.1. A briefing note was circulated last year on the planned deprecation of this map, which has passed. This is logged on the 2026 Early Visibility Release Notifications page, and more information can be found here.
Historically, versions of ICD-O were incorporated into past versions of SNOMED which were then owned by the College of American Pathologists. My understanding is that SNOMED International inherited this map in the early days of the organization, but I don’t have any documentation of its inception. If you have specific questions, you can send them to the Mapping Team (mapping@snomed.org), and we will do our best to assist you.
Regarding an upgrade, any future mapping of SNOMED CT to a version of ICD-O will be contingent on support and initiatives from SNOMED International member organizations and stakeholders, who will provide definitive requirements and specific use cases.
