Hi All
Please see this informational briefing note from SNOMED International outlining planned revisions to concepts within the Clinical Finding hierarchy where the causative agent is Ethanol (substance), to address inconsistency in the use of the terms “ethanol”, “alcohol”, and “ethyl alcohol” across more than 100 concepts. The plan is to update Fully Specified Names to use “ethanol” to align with editorial guidelines and substance reference sources, while “alcohol” will become the Preferred Term reflecting common clinical usage — the note is open for a 30-day review period before any work begins, providing an opportunity for members to review and provide input: Revision of clinical findings defined by ethanol
