Users noted some concepts had both inflammation and arthritis descriptions on the same concept and for a small number there was also duplication in the finding hierarchy under 298160000 |Inflamed joint (finding)| for example:
For these instances 448589005 |Inflammation of joint of hand (disorder) has had the arthritis synonym inactivated and the concept moved to the clinical finding hierarchy. A new concept was created for 1303804001 |Arthritis of joint of hand (disorder)|.
38 concepts in total were affected by these changes."

Hi Annatina, thanks for your question. It seems we haven’t gotten around to revising (all of) the translations. 
Our guidelines, revised in july 2025, specify as follows:
Our informal guideline states that we can leave ‘gewrichtsontsteking’ as a synonym for the arthritis concepts, but that they should not be added in the future. The Dutch medical dictionary does provide ‘gewrichtsontsteking’ as a valid synonym for arthritis. We have not provided ‘gewrichtsonsteking’ as a valid synonym for inflammation of joint concepts, so they should not/cannot be confused with one another.

Zusammenfassend ist der Term Gelenksentzündung ein Synonym von Arthritis und soll daher nicht in den Konzepten mit **298160000 | Inflammation of joint (finding) |**verwendet werden. So wie von Christoph vorgeschlagen würde ich ein Adjektiv mit einem Substantiv kombinieren. Bsp. Entzündetes Gelenk . LGH

ich weiß nicht ob man wirklich sagen kann, dass zusammenfassen Arthritis = Gelenkentzündung ist.
Laut SNOMED International gehören u. a. der zeitliche Aspekt, der Prozess etc. noch beurteilt. → Eine Gelenkentzündung im Rahmen einer Verletzung ist jetzt nicht mit einer Arthritis im Sinne einer Erkrankung gleichzusetzen.
Allerdings würde das NL-Vorgehen für Christoph’s Vorschlag sprechen:

Ich würde das so beibehalten: inflammation of joint:
Entzündung eines Gelenks / Gelenkentzündung/ Entzündetes Gelenk als finding, Arthritis als disorder.
Zu Retrodiscitis habe ich keine Meinung, darin habe ich mich nicht eingearbeitet, sorry.

Das Schema mit xxxentzündung geht sich bei komplexeren Fällen vermutlich nicht aus, da müsste man zur “Entzündung des xxx” greifen, zum Beispiel 215692321000119108 |Arthritis of bilateral first metatarsophalangeal joints (disorder)|.
Ich bin entsprechend fürs Weglassen der “Entzündung” bei den Gelenken wegen Mehrdeutigkeit, und nur “entzündetes Gelenk” und “Arthritis” einsetzen.
QS würde ich schon zeitnah machen, wenn wir uns entschieden haben. Je nach Entscheid sind nur rund 35 Konzepte betroffen - das können wir im NRC übernehmen.
