What is SNOMED Forums?

SNOMED Forums is an open online platform where the global SNOMED CT community can exchange ideas, ask questions, and collaborate. It’s designed to support discussion between clinicians, implementers, developers, researchers, and anyone working with SNOMED CT.

Who can get an account to use SNOMED Forums?

Anyone can register to get an SNOMED International Account, which gives you access to SNOMED Forums and your SNOMED International Landing Page.

What categories can I visit?

The forums are organized into clear categories:

  • General – For introductions, site feedback, or anything that doesn’t fit elsewhere.

  • Using SNOMED CT – Practical questions, use cases, and implementation advice.

  • Technology & Software – Discussions on SNOMED CT tools, platforms, and technical integration.

  • Clinical Reference Groups (CRGs) – Specialty-specific forums (e.g. Dentistry, Mental Health, Eye Care, Nutrition).

  • SNOMED Groups – Spaces for advisory and working groups, such as the Terminology Release Advisory Group.

There are other groups which may be restricted for view only such as:

  • SNOMED International News – Official announcements, updates, and events.

There may be some groups you are aware of that are closed, and if so, please reach out to info@snomed.org to request access.

Where should I start as a new user?

What are Clinical Reference Groups (CRGs)?

CRGs are communities of practice focused on specific clinical domains (e.g. Dentistry, Mental and Behavioural Health). They provide a space for domain experts to share expertise and influence the development of SNOMED CT content.

How can I suggest new discussion categories or groups?

We would welcome suggestions for relevant new categories that cover topics not covered elsewhere. Please go to SNOMED Forums Site Feedback and leave a message providing details about the group you are suggesting.

How do I provide feedback on the forums themselves?

Go to SNOMED Forums Site Feedback to report issues, suggest improvements, or share ideas about the forum platform.

I’m a technical user – where should I go?

The Technology & Software category is the best place to discuss SNOMED tools, APIs, integrations, and software development.

What are SNOMED User Groups?

These are spaces for broader SNOMED communities and advisory groups, where working groups or committees can share updates and coordinate activities.

Yes. Please:

  • Keep discussions respectful and professional.
