Draft for review: Drug Model Implementation Guide

Dear DEUSG members,

In 2025, and coinciding with the migration to the new SNOMED Docs platform, the International Drug Model guide and the Drug Extension guide were migrated into the Editorial Guide.

Following discussions from last year’s meeting in Antwerp, there was a need for additional implementation guidance to complement the authoring guidance in the Editorial Guide.

We have a first draft of an implementation Guide for the Drug model, covering use cases, relationship with information models, and terminology bindings:

Please submit any feedback on this UAT version of the document, and we will include a slot on the agenda in Vienna to discuss it in more detail.

Best regards

Hi Alejandro. Thankyou for posting this. Im not sure I will be able to join the Zoom on Wednesday as so I just wanted to identify a couple of points….

For the Use Cases in Secondary Care prescribing in the UK most inpatient prescribing is carried out at the MP only level with the route of administration being separately identified. Could this be added to the document

The Overview of Terminology Binding table, the first line should I think be “MP only” concepts.

The Information Models with Binding section dosage instructions should also include the option for site. It is commonly used for ENT ( for example; left eye, right eye or both) vaccination sites and the prescribing of cutaneous products although this may be an acquired site ( scar, lesion, rash etc). Thanks
