Should we consider dropping the Format element “RF2” from the International release?

It seems redundant now - how long as it been since the last RF1 release?!

This would involve updating the Package Naming Spec here: Release Package Naming Conventions | SNOMED International Documents

Questions:

  • Would this impact existing users?
  • Would this have any impact going forward?
  • Any chance of confusion of format?

From my perspective, the benefit of removing “RF2” seems fairly limited. It’s also quite possible that new use cases will emerge in the future where files need to be labeled as something other than “RF2”. Given that, the proposed change doesn’t really feel worth the effort to implement.
