Child terms of SNOMED:254292007 'Tumor staging'

Hello, totally new to the forum and not sure how to get this addressed but we are using SNOMED to curate cancer data and store in an OMOP database. The data can have various cancer staging systems, the majority of which are children of the SNOMED:254292007 ‘Tumour staging’ term. However there are some that fall outside this category and was wondering why these systems that relate to Cancers and Tumours are found outside the parent Tumor Staging, and if they could be moved to within the category.

The terms that I think would be better suited as children of Tumor staging are:

  • SNOMED:1149163003 - Revised International Staging System for multiple myeloma (staging scale)
  • SNOMED:1149162008 - International Staging System for multiple myeloma (staging scale)
  • SNOMED:1268554008 - Lauren classification of adenocarcinoma in stomach (staging scale)

This is important for OMOP as we use the branch of the ontology that a term comes from to classify the various types of measurement and observation objects.

I also wondered if it would be possible to add a parent term for the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) editions? There are currently terms for each edition but not a broader term that groups these. This would be useful to us as our current data model specifies that the cancer was staged using AJCC but does not include the edition.

Let me know if this is the right place to ask these kinds of things or a more formal way to request changes/additions to the ontology.

Hi Marion,
