I get emails with the forum post summary and those are of real interset to me but whenever I go read the posts suggested, there is almost never a reply button. I have questions or comments but can’t interact though I’m logged in. When I see those posts, there are no comments on them either so I guess I’m not the only one so hindered. What’s the point sending us updates asking comments when we can’t comment the posts? Where can one request the right to comment on a specific thread? There is no “request access button” I can find. Do I have to ask access to every single forum and if so where? I never had trouble commenting almost anything in the previous system and now well, it’s like having been thrown out of the community. You can’t do anything anymore. And there is no explanation on how to solve this to be found in the Forum FAQs. It only says to reply push on reply button. Says nothing on what to do when there is no reply button. If you don’t want volunteer involvement to die out, I would suggest you open all categories to comments per default. After all, it’s easier to filter out or not take into account existing comments than deal with those you didn’t get. Clinicians don’t have the time to go through digging out who to ask access whenever they wish to comment and then come back some other day to leave it. I will not go back to the posts I could not comment, you’ll just loose it. And you’ll loose me coming to read any post if I repeatedly can’t interact. Question of time and efficiency. At the very least, having access to one of the CRG should allow you to post in all the Clinical categories. Thanks for taking this into consideration.
Thanks very much for your thoughtful feedback. The model we started with, as you describe, allows all users to view almost everywhere and respond/write in places where they are part of the group. This is always a balance between complete openness and a bit of control, so that conversations remain relevant.
I will pass your feedback to the group owners and discuss if they have any thoughts on opening the ability to write/respond in each of their groups.
In the meantime, there is always a ‘request access’ button on all groups, generally in the about posts in each forum (e.g. here is the nursing group topic - About the Nursing CRG category ).
