Highly recommending Option 3.
NRC Malaysia only recently began looking into clinical terms used in the Histopathology and Radiology cancer reporting. Initial findings on the neoplasm behavior lead to similar conclusion as the briefing note.
We are also using ICD-O-3 for our national cancer reporting. The current content in SNOMED CT does not fully reflect how neoplastic behaviour are described by clinicians or in the reporting.

Thank you, Ismat, that is very helpful. I will collate all the feedback received, and have noted that Malaysia is in favour of Option 3.

It would be useful to hear a little more about your cancer reporting. In particular:

  • Could you give one or two examples of where the current SNOMED CT content does not reflect the way clinicians describe neoplastic behaviour or in the reporting?
  • Do you foresee any impact from Option 3 on your national cancer reporting?

Many thanks, Nicki
