Hi!

We are standardizing the ordering of radiological procedures in Estonia. The entire procedure unfortunately cannot be in SNOMED yet due to the granularity we require, so we use SNOMED to encode the procedure compontents like modality, anatomy and laterality. Most of the modalities are quite nicely matched in SNOMED (x-ray, MRT, ultrasonography etc) but we are having issues with procedures that are done bed-side. We differ bed-side x-ray with plain x-ray because of the difference of resources the procedure requires. What we currently have are:

- 425583002 | Portable plain X-ray (procedure) |
- 870384002 | Point of care diagnostic ultrasonography (procedure) |

We are currently missing bedside echocardiography and bedside obstetric ultrasonography. For the last two we have decided to create new SNOMED concepts under 405264000 |Bedside testing (procedure)|and for unification purposes it is probably reasonable to move x-ray and regular ultrasound there too.

Before going forward I wanted to ask, if there are other nations that have tackled the same issue and what terminology you use to define the bed-side/point-of-care/hospital-bed procedures?
