I’d like to represent Medicinal enzyme allergy as a code in SNOMED. 295107003 fits this perfectly, but this code has been deactivated for editorial reasons, and there aren’t any references to other fitting codes.
Searching around, I cannot find anything as specific. Only the broader 416098002 │ Allergy to drug is locatable.
295107003 |Medicinal enzyme allergy (disorder)| was made inactive because it did not conform to editorial policy.
We try to be as specific as possible about what concepts mean. Patients can not really be allergic to a whole category of substances, like enzymes. Having a concept like the one above on the healthcare record would make the statement that the patient is allergic to all medical enzymes. This would not be a true statement and could have downstream effects on Clinical Decision Support rules, reporting etc.
There are 18 specific enzyme allergy disorders that can be used in place of the concept above. For example:
295110005 |Allergy to alteplase (finding)|
1300136007 |Allergy to tenecteplase (finding)|
295108008 |Allergy to streptokinase (finding)|
You can find the whole set using this Expression Constraint Query: < 609433001 |Hypersensitivity disposition (finding)| : << 246075003 |Causative agent (attribute)| = << 90668006 |Substance with enzyme mechanism of action (substance)|
I hope that helps. Please accept our apologies that no one responded to your enquiry until now, somehow it was missed!
